Rancho Cordova does more commercial moving work for us than any other part of our service area outside the city itself. The Highway 50 corridor carries a dense concentration of offices, business parks and light industrial premises, and those relocations are a different discipline from moving a household.
The residential side splits cleanly in two, and knowing which half you are in tells you most of what the move will involve.
Two very different halves
The older west and centre. The neighbourhoods either side of Folsom Boulevard, much of it built mid-century around the former airbase and the industry that followed. Mostly single-storey homes on regular lots, with wide streets and usable driveways.
These are good moves: no stairs in most cases, short carries, straightforward access. The things to watch are the interiors — original doorways and hallways in a 1950s or 1960s house are narrower than modern equivalents, and garage conversions are common, which sometimes means an awkward route through a converted space rather than a clear run to the drive.
The newer east. The developments out toward Sunrise and beyond are considerably newer — modern dimensions, two-storey layouts with generous stair geometry, attached garages, HOA communities with the usual rules about truck size, permitted hours and gate access.
Physically the newer half is easier. The paperwork is the part to sort in advance.
Commercial and business-park moves
This is the work Rancho Cordova generates most of, and it follows the same principle everywhere: the cost of a commercial move is the downtime, not the invoice.
How we structure it:
- Archives, storage and surplus move ahead of time, which makes the critical weekend far simpler.
- The main move runs out of hours — typically Friday evening through the weekend.
- IT goes as its own phase, with servers and network equipment in and tested before workstations arrive and well before staff return.
Business parks and managed office buildings almost always require a certificate of insurance from the mover before granting access, naming the building owner as additional insured. Send us the requirements as early as you can — it is the most common reason a commercial move is delayed at the door.
Our commercial moving page covers phasing, inventory documentation and chain of custody for records in more detail.
What we do here
- Commercial moving — offices, server rooms, retail, medical
- Local moving — hourly, with a written not-to-exceed price
- Long-distance and interstate — binding estimates to all 50 states
- Apartment and condo moves
- Packing, piano and specialty and storage
Storage is worth a mention for Rancho Cordova businesses specifically: a phased commercial move often needs somewhere to hold furniture, stock or records between premises, and holding it with the mover means handling it once rather than twice.
Industrial and oversized items
The light industrial premises along the corridor sometimes need machinery, oversized equipment or awkward items moved rather than office furniture. That is a different job again — see our shipping and freight page for industrial and oversized handling, and talk to us before assuming it cannot be done.
Practical advice specific to Rancho Cordova
For a commercial move, start twelve weeks out. Internet provisioning at the new premises is almost always the critical path and routinely takes six to eight weeks. Everything else can be compressed; that cannot.
For an older home, check the route from the furthest room to the drive, particularly if the garage has been converted.
For a newer HOA community, call the association before the day.
Estimates
California requires a visual inspection before a written estimate — phone and internet estimates are prohibited and may not be enforceable. We survey both premises on commercial jobs, because the lift, the loading bay and the door widths determine the crew size.
You receive a not-to-exceed price: the maximum chargeable unless additional services are requested and recorded in writing.
